- Project: Replace timber and concrete driver walkways with GRP platforms
- Duration: 4 weeks
In collaboration with our client Balfour Beatty, we supplied skilled labour to successfully replace the deteriorating timber and concrete driver walkways with new, custom GRP platforms. This intensive 4-week project saw our teams working to remove the outdated walkways and install the new platforms.
Removing the old walkways, including handrails and cable trays, required two Road Rail Vehicles (RRVs), and involved loading the debris onto disposal lorries for off-site waste management.
Collaborating with Balfour Beatty, we accurately excavated and installed the shutter boxes, complete with steel reinforcing cages. This allowed us to pour the concrete to establish a robust foundation for anchoring the new platforms.
We laid 145 meters of troughing route to secure additional power supplies. Finally, we installed 9 new GRP platforms and 100 meters of GRP driver walkway, complete with lighting, handrails, and bollards, ensuring a safe passage for drivers.
Our teams worked around the clock to ensure the project was completed on time with no incidents.
